Description

This project aimed to investigate the ways that honeybees use pheromones to communicate when finding their queen (this process is called scenting). This work was conducted from the summer of 2023 to the spring of 2024, and it being my second research experience, I was mentored by Professor Orit Peleg.

I led the project and its implementation, which utilized classical computer vision techniques to segment bees and analyze their scenting communication behavior. This work was first conducted as part of the 2023 DREU program (over the summer) then was later hired as a student researcher within the Peleg Lab (for the rest of that academic year).

Feel free to read my blog posts, conducted in fulfillment of the DREU program requirements.
