COM² Student Advisor (2024 - 2025):

Description

Support executive and associate officers in developing events throughout the academic year. Lead the development of new initiatives within the student group.

Events

Seattle Public Schools Outreach

In this role, I developed and hosted outreach initiatives in collaboration with Seattle Public Schools. Through these efforts, 12 volunteers from UW presented to 577 SPS students in 22 classes for 11 teachers at 10 schools! This was the first collaboration between COM² and SPS, and I am excited to see where this partnership goes in the future.

Seattle Public Libraries Outreach

In addition, I created the UW’s first outreach program between the Allen School and Seattle Public Libraries. This program aimed to provide introductory computer science workshops to learners of all ages within the Seattle area. We recruited 10 volunteers and hosted 4 workshops at library branches within the North, East, Central, and South regions of Seattle.

COM² Education Director (2023 - 2024):

Description

Lead workshops and academic-related programming for the Allen School students (e.g. Intro to React Workshop). This was the first time the role had been offered.

Events

In this role, I led and developed many events such as our Intro to NeuroAI workshop, the Research Conferences 101 informational session, and our Coding Game Night social event.

COM² Social Events Coordinator (2022 - 2023):

Description

The focus of this role was to co-lead the planning and execution of the Allen School’s quarterly department-wide socials. Within the role, I managed event planning committees for event decorations and entertainment, organized external vendors for food, decorations, and entertainment as necessary, and delegate responsibilities.

Events

Alongside my co-coordinator, I organized and hosted the three largest quarterly socials within the Allen School (Fall Fest, Winter Ball, and Spring BBQ), while also creating the first iterations of our Git Good at Git and Intro to ReactJS workshops.

Code.org Content Presenter (2022)

*Code.org has been rebranded to CodeAI
I held this role during my first year at university, and presented a portion of Code.org’s AP CS curriculum. This role was one of many major reasons why I became motivated to pursue teaching.

COM² Associate Officer (2021 - 2022)

This was the first leadership role I had held! As an associate officer, I primarily helped to support the executive officers in hosting the events; however, this role showed me the large impact that a few willing people can have.
